Stylin' DIY carpet runner for $100: $5 area rugs from Ikea (just the right size to cover 2 stairs with no waste!), double-stick carpet tape to secure to the top of the stairs, a staple gun to secure under the lip of the stair, and upholstery tacks along the edge to add flair and secure the edges. Less than a day to complete (the tacks — 22 on each stair — took the most time).
