Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier. Due to enter service in 2020, there are to be two ships in the class.- HMS Queen Elizabeth & HMS Prince of Wales. Displacement – 70600 tonnes. Length- 920 ft. Beam- 128ft at waterline, 230 ft overall. Draught – 36ft, Deck area – 170000 sq ft. Power – 2 x Rolls Royce Gas Turbines 48000 hp, 4 x Marine Diesel motors (2 x 11700 hp & 2x 15600 hp). Speed – in excess of 25 knots, Range- 10000 nautical miles. 679 crew with capacity for 1600. Armament- At least 3 Phalanx CIWS, 30mm guns, miniguns. AIRCRAFT – Tailored air group of up to 40 aircraft (Maximum 50) – include from F35B Lightning II, Chinook, Merlin, Merlin Crowsnest AEW, Apache, Wildcat.
